The SAOS Orchestra Academy is conceived for music students and professional musicians
in the early stages of their career. Of course we also welcome ambitious and able participants
whose career is not in music, but who wish to develop their instrumental and orchestral skills further.
All the lecturers of the SAOS Orchestra Academy are professors at music academies as well as soloists, concertmasters and solo players of internationally renowned orchestras.
The SAOS Orchestra Academy aims to offer an intense exploration of the special performance practice required by the First Viennese School, accompanied and guided by instructors with excellent references in this specific repertoire. The concerts of the 2019 SAOS Orchestra Academy are planned as part of the “Salzburg Festival Opening Party”, offer a perfect opportunity to fulfill our ambition in this respect.
Our goal is to give each participant in the 2019 SAOS Orchestra Academy a lasting impression of “our” performance style in the classical concert and orchestral repertoire, which may accompany them on their musical paths through life.
The SAOS Orchestra Academy takes place at the Musikum Salzburg. This “House of Music” not only offers professional working conditions, but is also located in the immediate vicinity of the performance venues of the world’s largest and probably also most important festival for classical music.

Our Offers: The 2019 SAOS Orchestra Academy
ORCHESTRA MODULE
Program: „The First Vienna School“ – scores / parts will be sent to participants in advance.
Course Fee: 490.- Euro
The Orchestra Module includes the following:
- 6 Orchestra Rehearsals
- 1 Sectional Rehearsal
- Additional coaching by section during rehearsals by our lecturers
- Concert performance during the “Festival Opening Party” on July 20, 2019 (tbc)
- Farewellparty

MASTERCLASS-MODULE
Program: To be determined individually with lecturers (in advance)
Course Fee: 690.- Euro
The Master Class Module includes the following:
- 7 Hours of Individual Lessons
- Final Concert (tbc)

PERCUSSION-MODULE
FOCUS of the SAOS Orchestra Academy 2019
Program: „Percussion Ensemble Works“ – program will be announced in due time. Scores / parts will be sent to participants in advance.
Course Fee: Active 690.- / Passive 290.-
The Percussion Module includes the following:
- 8 different master classes for Viennese timpani system, Berlin timpani system, orchestral percussion and solo repertoire
- 6 Ensemble Rehearsals with Tutors
- Open Air Concert with Lecturers at the “Festival Opening Party” on July 20, 2019 (tbc)
- Farewellparty

The SAOS Orchestra Academy’s timetable will be designed in a way that the dates of each module (except for the „Percussion Module PM“) will not overlap. The modules can therefore be booked individually or in combination with each other. Please mind the deadlines!
Participants of the PM will receive Ensemble- and Masterclass lessons as listed in the detailed description. This module does not include individual lessons. As part of the PM Masterclasses, however, the participants will, of course, have the opportunity to work on their instruments with the lecturers individually!
